Kia India has silently discontinued the diesel iMT powertrain option from the Kia Sonet, Seltos, and Carens, lineup. The iMT gearbox is available with the turbo-petrol engine variants. The diesel engine is now available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions only. The automaker has also discontinued some variants of the 3 cars.

MY2025 Kia Sonet, Seltos, and Carens: What’s new?
The 6-speed iMT gearbox is only available with the following 1.0-litre turbo petrol variants of the Kia Sonet: HTK, HTK(O), HTK+ (O), and HTX. The HTX+ variant of the SUV has been discontinued. A new HTK+ (O) variant has been introduced to sit between the HTK(O) and HTX trims.
Kia Sonet features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a similar-sized digital instrument cluster. Other premium features of the SUV include a Bose audio system, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a Level 1 ADAD package and more.
Kia Sonet is available in 3 engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 83hp and 115Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine on the Sonet churns out 120hp and 172Nm. Lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine generates a maximum power output of 116hp and 250Nm of torque.
Only the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol HTK+ variant of the Seltos SUV is available with the 6-speed iMT gearbox. The mid-spec HTX trim, which used to come with the diesel iMT powertrain, has been pulled from the Seltos’ lineup. Three new variants have been added to the SUV’s lineup – HTK(O), HTK+ (O), and HTX (O). The GTX trim from the GT Line edition has also been discontinued.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the Seltos SUV generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. The petrol can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel engine is now only available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The iMT gearbox is only available with the Premium (O), Gravity, and Prestige+ trims of the Carens. The Luxury trim has been continued. The SUV comes in three powertrain options – 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.

Prices for the Kia Sonet SUV start at Rs 8.00 lakh and go up to Rs 15.70 lakh. Meanwhile, the Seltos is priced between Rs 11.13 lakh – Rs 20.51 lakh. Lastly, prices for the Carens start at Rs 10.60 lakh and go up to Rs 19.70 lakh.
