Kia EV9 GT: What’s new?
The biggest change on the Kia EV9 GT comes under the hood. The MPV has a 215hp-producing electric motor mounted to its front axle and a 362hp motor on the rear axle. Combined, the 2 electric motors produce a maximum power output of 501hp. This beats the power output of the current-gen EV9 GT-Line (379hp) by a staggering 122hp. The MPV can go from 0-96 kmph in just 4.3 seconds. The EV9 GT retains the 800-volt fast-charging architecture from the regular EV9 lineup. Using a DC fast charger, the battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in less than 25 minutes.
In terms of cosmetics, the Kia EV9 GT distinguishes itself from the rest of the lineup with new designs for the front & rear bumpers and the alloy wheels. The front fascia is also distinguished by the ‘Energetic’ lighting pattern and GT-exclusive patterns on the Active Air Flaps. The MPV clears the ground at 7.8 inches.
Inside, the Kia EV9 GT gets bright green accents on the steering wheel and seat upholstery. The seats also feature Alcantara suede inserts, which are embossed with the GT logo. The interior is available with GT-exclusive Dark Gray & Black simulated leather with neon accents.
“The EV9 has been a home run for Kia and introduced the first mass-market electric three-row SUV,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America. “And EV9 GT includes all those wonderful elements while amping up the fun factor significantly. This new halo trim is set to spark the hearts of driving enthusiasts who still need the practicality of a six-passenger SUV. You can have your cake and eat it too!”
