Hyundai Ioniq 9: Everything you need to know

Hyundai Ioniq 9 is the biggest electric SUV from the automaker so far, sitting at dimensions of 5,060mm x 1,980mm x 1,790mm. It has a 3,130mm wheelbase. The EV rocks a futuristic and aerodynamic design. Hyundai prefers to call it an ‘Aerosthetic’ design. The LED light units have a ‘Parametric Pixel’ design. This design language is also present in other Hyundai SUVs like the Ioniq 5, albeit in a more subtle manner. The SUV’s profile is defined by a smooth, curved roofline and an aerodynamic shape. The EV is fitted with digital side mirrors. The pixel pattern from the LED units in the front can also be found at the back of the SUV.

Inside, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 flaunts a very roomy, 3-row layout. Its interior recreates a lounge-like feel with ‘Relaxation Seats’ in the first and second rows. These seats have a massaging function built into them. The second-row seats can swivel backwards, further playing into the lounge aesthetic. This allows the second and third-row passengers to face each other while travelling. The ‘Universal Island’ in the centre console can be moved up by 160mm, which gives easy access to the second-row passengers. The centre console has 5.6 litres of storage in the upper tray and 12.6 litres of storage in the lower sliding tray.

In terms of instrumentation, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 packs a panoramic curved display comprising a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include roof-mounted air vents, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker audio system, 100W wired charging in all three rows, and more.

The 110.3kWh battery pack on the Hyundai Ioniq 9 offers a driving range of 620km. This battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 24 minutes using a 350W fast charger. The SUV is available in Long Range and Performance trims with the option of RWD and AWD configurations. The LR AWD variant produces a maximum power output of 218hp and 350Nm of torque. In an AWD configuration, this trim gets an additional 95hp and 255Nm producing electric motor. Meanwhile, the Performance trim gets the 218hp and 350Nm producing motor on both axles.
