Hyundai Creta EV is one of the highly anticipated electric SUVs in the Indian market. Currently, the SUV is in its testing phase, having been spotted under heavy camouflage on multiple occasions. The good news is that the EV is set to go into production by the end of 2024, which means it could be launched in early 2025.

The Hyundai Creta EV is based on its ICE sibling. It will have a similar design as the ICE Creta, apart from a few EV-exclusive changes. This means a shut-off grille, EV branding, redesigned bumpers, and slightly tweaked alloys. The L-shaped fragmented DRLs found on the Creta ICE facelift will also be present on the Creta EV.
The similarities in design will continue inside as well. While no spy shots of the EV’s interior have surfaced yet, its dashboard layout is expected to be identical to the Creta facelift. The latter features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and another 10.25-inch display for the digital instrument cluster. Below the dual screens is housed a newly designed console for the dual-zone climate control system. This console features physical buttons as well. We will not be surprised if Hyundai incorporates some design elements of the Ioniq 5 EV into the Creta EV.
The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to get a 45kWh battery pack. This battery pack is smaller than the one on the Maruti eVX (48/60kWh) and the MG ZS EV (50.3kWh). The Creta EV is rumoured to share its electric motor with the Hyundai Kona EV, which is sold overseas. The front-axle-mounted single electric motor on the entry-level Kona EV produces a maximum power output of 138hp and 255Nm.

If the Hyundai Creta EV goes into production by the end of 2024, it could be launched earlier than the Maruti Suzuki eVX. The latter was expected to be launched sooner than the Creta EV but its production has been moved to February 2025. Upon launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will rival the Maruti Suzuki eVX, Honda Elevate EV, MG ZS EV, and Tata Nexon EV.
