The dealer-level CNG kit is available with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. Citroen dealerships have collaborated with Lovato to bring the CNG kits to the C3 models. The mechanical specs of the CNG hatchback have not been revealed yet. However, it is confirmed that it will offer a fuel economy of 28.1km/kg. The CNG engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Automatic transmission is not available with this powertrain. The single CNG cylinder has a capacity of 55 litres.
The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 82hp and 115Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 109hp and 190Nm. Both engines can be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The turbo petrol engine also gets the option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Citroen says that the CNG system on the C3 is integrated without compromising the boot space and spare wheel accessibility. The CNG nozzle is smartly integrated within the petrol filler port, ensuring ease of access during refuelling. The specially tuned rear shock absorbers, reinforced suspension springs, and an anti-roll bar ensure a smooth and comfortable drive, even with an added CNG kit.
Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director, Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said, “We are pleased to introduce the CNG retrofitment option for the Citroën C3, reinforcing our commitment to provide accessible, economical, and eco-conscious mobility solutions. This initiative will enable our customers to experience Citroën comfort and design while benefitting from the cost-efficiency and environmental advantages of CNG. As CNG infrastructure rapidly expands across India—with more than 7,400 stations expected nationwide by FY2025—Citroën India is proud to offer solutions aligned with the country’s evolving fuel ecosystem and environmental goals.”
