After making its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2023, the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to launch in India next month. Maruti Suzuki also plans on launching the all-new Dzire sedan in India later this year. As we get closer to launch, expect Maruti to reveal more information about the bestselling hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: India launch next month
As far as the overall design and cosmetics are concerned, Maruti Suzuki has retained the signature look of the Swift in its latest iteration while making some significant updates. The India-spec model of the hatchback is expected to be similar to the one unveiled in Japan. It gets angular LED projector headlamps, a wider grille, and a new bumper. Along the sides, the hatchback gets a new design for the alloy wheels. The design for the rear bumper and LED tail lamps has been revised as well.
The version of the hatchback showcased in Japan features a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It remains to be seen whether the India-spec Maruti Suzuki Swift will carry this unit as well. It also gets premium features like wireless charging, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, and an ADAS package. These features likely won’t make it to the Indian model. However, Maruti will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and three-point seatbelts for rear passengers as standard features on the Swift.
Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. This engine will be slightly tweaked in the India-spec version of the hatchback and will produce an output similar to the K12 engine. The latter produces 90hp and 113Nm. The Z12E engine puts out 82hp and 103Nm. Transmission options will include 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.

Conclusion
Currently, prices for the Maruti Suzuki Swift start at Rs 5.99 lakh and go up to Rs 9.03 lakh. Expect the next-gen model to cost a small premium over the outgoing model. Upon launch, the hatchback will rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Kwid, Tata Altroz, and Tata Tiago.
