BMW iX1: Everything you need to know

Based on the X1, the BMW iX1 retains the exterior design of its ICE sibling. The X1 was launched in India earlier this year at Rs 45.90 lakh. The electric SUV gets some EV-exclusive cosmetic changes like the ā€˜iā€™ branding on the grille and blue highlights on the bumpers, side steps, and front grille.

The interior layout of the BMW iX1 closely resembles that of its ICE counterpart. The electric SUV gets a 10.7-inch curved display touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, a two-zone climate control system, a massage function for the front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The SUV has a boot space of 490 litres. It also gets an ADAS package with features like Lane Departure Warning, Cruise Control with Braking Function, Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Protection.

Talking about the mechanics, the dual electric motor powering the BMW iX1 can generate a maximum power output of 313hp and 494Nm of torque. The SUV can go from 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds with its top speed capped at 180kmph. It also gets All Wheel Drive.

The 66.4kWh battery pack on the BMW iX1 delivers a driving range of 440km on a full charge. This battery pack can be fully charged in under 7 hours using an 11kW AC home charger. A 130kW DC fast charger takes just 29 minutes to juice the battery pack from 10-80%.

Conclusion

BMW iX1 is available in four colour options ā€“ Black, White, Silver, and Grey. In a bid to boost sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint, BMW has used 70% secondary aluminium in castings and 20% recycled materials in plastic parts of the iX1. The electric SUV rivals the likes of Volvo XC40 Recharge, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mercedes EQB in India.
