Kia India has initiated a recall of 4,538 units of the CVT variants of Kia Seltos over a faulty oil pump issue. The automaker communicated that the potential error in the electric oil pump controller may impact its performance. This issue is limited to the CVT variants of the SUV. Kia India has also notified the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) about this recall.

The 4,358 recalled units of Kia Seltos were manufactured between February 28 and July 13, 2023. The automaker will reach out to the affected buyers and replace the faulty part. Kia will not charge any fee for the replacement. Kia Seltos is available in 3 powertrains and 7 trims – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. The CVT gearbox is available only with the HTX variant.
The Kia Seltos facelift was launched in July 2023. The SUV is offered in three engine options. The 1.5-litre petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. This engine is available with the affected CVT gearbox. Kia calls it the IVT gearbox. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. Also on offer is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which generates a maximum power output of 160hp.
In terms of features, the Kia Seltos sports a 10.25-inch twin-screen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay support and a digital driver display. The AC vents on the facelifted model are sleeker compared to the previous version and the HVAC media controls panel gets a slight redesign as well. There are new interior colour options on offer for the GT and X-Line variants. The ADAS package on the Seltos facelift consists of 17 safety features.

Affected customers can reach out to Kia by calling the 1800-108-5000 (toll-free) helpline. Prices for the Kia Seltos start at Rs 10.90 lakh and go up to Rs 20.30 lakh. It rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
