Honda Cars India has registered a new milestone. The automaker’s debut midsize SUV in India, Elevate, has sold 30,000 units since its launch. Honda Elevate was launched in September 2023 and it has taken the midsize SUV less than 7 months to accomplish this feat. Honda also exports the India-made Elevate to Japan, where it is sold as the WR-V.

Honda Elevate: The next big thing
Honda Elevate has enjoyed a lot of popularity in India ever since its launch. In December 2022, the SUV crossed the 20,000 sales landmark, a feat it accomplished within 100 days of launch. During this period, it accounted for over 50% of Honda’s sales. Out of the 79,513 Honda cars shipped to dealerships between August 2023 and February 2024, 30,365 units have been Elevate. The SUV has helped Honda regain a lot of market share in India.
Honda Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 121hp and 145Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Manual variants of Honda Elevate offer a fuel efficiency of 15.31kmpl while the CVT variants put up a mileage of 16.92kmpl.
In terms of features, Honda Elevate comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker sound system, a single-pane sunroof, and a Honda Sensing ADAS package. The entry-level variants of the SUV get standard features like an automatic AC unit, beige upholstery, dual airbags, push start/stop button, and more.
The Japanese version of the Elevate, WR-V, is the same size as its Indian counterpart. It stands at dimensions of 4,312mm x 1,790mm x 1,650mm and has a wheelbase of 2,650mm. Inside, the WR-V gets an all-black theme and a different infotainment system. This infotainment system comes with a remote control. The Japanese version of the Elevate also gets in-car WiFi and theft detection but loses out on the sunroof.

Prices for the Honda Elevate start at Rs 11.58 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 16.20 lakh for the top-spec variant. It is available in four variants – SV, V, VX, and ZX. In India, the SUV rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Citroen C3 Aircross, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
