MG Motor India has updated the Hector SUV with an E20-compliant engine. Prices for the 2025 MG Hector start at Rs 13.99 lakh. The SUV’s engine update comes after the GoI’s mandate for E20–compliant engines in gasoline-powered cars manufactured after April 1, 2025. The MG Astor has had an E20-compliant engine since 2024.

The MG Hector is available in 2 powertrain options – a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine is now E20-compliant. This means that it can run on a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% gasoline. This engine produces a maximum power output of 142hp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre diesel engine generates a maximum power output of 168hp and 350Nm of torque. This diesel engine also powers the Jeep Compass & Meridian and the Tata Harrier & Safari. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is also available with a CVT automatic transmission.
Inside, the MG Hector retains its design and instrumentation. It rocks a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a digital Bluetooth key and key sharing. The i-Smart tech package comes with 75 connected features. The ADAS package on the SUV includes features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.
MG Motor has also announced the ‘Midnight Carnival’ in India. As a part of this campaign, the automaker is offering a range of offers for the Hector SUV. These offers are worth up to Rs 4 lakh. The Midnight Carnival will last until June 30. As a part of the campaign, MG showrooms across the country will operate until midnight on weekends.

Prices for the MG Hector start at Rs 13.99 lakh and go up to Rs 23.04 lakh for the top-spec variant. The SUV is available in 5, 6, and 7-seat configurations. It rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta in India.
