Tata Punch Vs Maruti Ignis: Here is what we think

Tata has released its new micro SUV recently. Which not only looks muscular and rugged but also comes with future-ready equipment inside. Maruti Ignis being its direct competitor might be old but still gives neck to neck competition to it. With recent updates Maruti did to the Ignis it is all ready to lock horns with Tata punch. Here is which one you can pick.

Exterior

Both the cars have muscular looks to offer to its customer. They come equipped with daytime running LED DRLs on the front with dual-tone bumpers. The dimensions of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is 3,700mm in length, 1,690mm in width and 1596mm in height. On the other hand, Tata Punch not only seems bigger but also bigger on papers with 3,840mm length, 1,822mm width and 1,635mm height. In the space category, we can see that there will be a little more legroom offered to you in Tata Punch. Even Punch is more heightened than Ignis with wheelbase being 2,450mm as compared to 2,435 on Ignis. Punch not only offers extra legroom but also a little more boot space. Maruti has 260 litres of boot space in Ignis as compared to 280 litres on Tata Punch. Ignis is lighter than a punch weighing 825kg and Punch being 1,170kg.

Interior

The Interior is pretty much the same on both the cars and offers the same functionalities. The punch comes with a 7-inch full digital touch screen that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto with a semi-digital console. The car has 8 JBL speakers inside tuned by Herman to give customers an immense multimedia experience. Standard features like dual airbags, rear parking sensor with camera, automatic lights and keyless entry are included on higher models.

Ignis is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that also supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The infotainment system is paired with 4 JBL speakers. Ignis has automatic climate control as well. Rest other standard features remain the same for this car which includes dual airbags, rear parking camera and sensor with the option of keyless entry. Both cars come with all standard security features like ABS, an Electronic brake distribution system and anti-theft alarm.

Engine

Tata Punch comes with three engine options as compared to one on the Engines. The first being the 1.2 litres 3 cylinders revotron naturally aspirated engine producing 84 hp power and 113 Nm. This engine is also used in Tata Tiago, Tigor and Altroz as well. The same engine also comes with a turbocharged variant producing 108hp power and 140 Nm torque. The car may also come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. Ignis comes with a 1.2L 4 Cylinder VVT petrol engine which produces fewer vibrations and feels more refined. The engine churns out 81 hp of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque.

Both the cars come almost equal when it comes to comparison and won’t let your money go in the drain. Customers wanting a feature-loaded car with tons of options for safety and engine can go with Tata Punch. On the other hand, the consumer who wants a more refined and silent engine with decent security and features can go with Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
