BYD Seal: Tech spec revealed

The India-spec BYD Seal will carry an 82.5kWh battery pack. Overseas, the Seal is also available in a smaller, 61.4kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 550km. The larger battery pack can power the electric sedan for 700km, as claimed by BYD. This battery pack supports a charging speed of up to 150kW. The PMS motor powering the sedan can produce a maximum power output of 230hp and 360Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds.

BYD Seal stands at dimensions of 4,800mm x 1,875mm x 1,460mm and has a wheelbase of 2,920mm. It features split LED headlamps up front along with 4 boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The DRLs are integrated into the headlamp setup. The sedan also has an all-glass roof and flush-fitting door handles. At the back, an LED bar connects the two tail lamps. The overall design language of the Seal seems to be consistent with the ‘Ocean X’ concept unveiled by the automaker in 2021. It also carries forward BYD’s tradition of ocean-themed nomenclature.

Inside, the BYD Seal gets a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The driver’s cockpit is also equipped with a Head-Up Display. The AC vents are positioned around the infotainment unit. The scroll wheel positioned in the centre console can switch among the different drive modes on offer. The centre console also houses two wireless charging pads and additional media & car controls.

Conclusion

BYD Seal will be imported to India as a CBU unit. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 lakh. Expect the automaker to drop some more details about the electric sedan as it gets closer to launch. In India, the BYD Seal will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
