2022 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R unveiled in the US

The 2022 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has finally made its global debut. The new updated version gets new colour schemes to flaunt, with updated graphics and a transparent bubble visor. The fully-faired middleweight sportbike left the Indian bike market in 2020 after the new emission norms by the Indian government. The bike will be back next year with an updated BS6 avatar.

The new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is offered in two new colour schemes. The first one is Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray with Metallic Diablo Black and the other option is Metallic Matte Twilight Blue with Metallic Diablo Black. While the sporty red and green remain constant with bold 6R graphics on the side fairing. Rather than a red accent, the fresh model gets a neon one across the motorcycle. Talking about the design language, it looks identical to the previous gen.

Powering the beast is a 636cc, four-stroke, in-line four, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled engine. The powertrain churns out 130 PS of max power and 70.6 Nm of peak torque. The transmission in use is a 6-speed manual gearbox with assist and a slipper clutch. To make the shifts even smoother, Kawasaki also added a quick shifter. For transmission, Kawasaki equipped its middle to weight sportbikes with Showa’s USD forks at the front and a gas-charged mono-shock absorber at the rear.

Along with higher speed, safety has also been kept in mind by the company, pairing the bike with dual 310 mm petal discs at the front and a single 230 mm petal disc at the rear along with dual-channel ABS as standard. The reason why the company didn’t launch the bike in India was that it is not yet BS6 compliant but the company will surely make some updates and launch ZX-6R next year. The price of the global variant is $10,499 (Rs 7.85 lakh approx) but the expected price of the Indian variant should cross Rs 10 lakh ex-showroom, India.
