TVS signs MoU with Tata Power to collaborate for two-wheeler EV charging stations in India

TVS is a growing two-wheeler manufacturing company in India. On Tuesday it announced that it is entering into a strategic partnership with Tata Power for EVCI. This in a nutshell means that Tata power will be providing TVS with Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure(EVCI) across India and will also provide solar power technology at multiple TVS motor locations. The main purpose of this collaboration is to increase the infrastructure for charging electric two-wheelers.

TVS already has the iQube scooter in its EV segment. With this expansion, it will become easy for the consumers to own a TVS EV as there will be a widespread charging network provided by Tata Power. The consumers will be able to locate the nearest power station by either the TVS Motor customer connect app or the Tata Power EZ Charge app, across India. The company mentioned that it aims to create a regular AC charging network and a DC fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers.

Sudarshan Venu, joint managing director, TVS Motor Company said “Our partnership will substantially enhance customer convenience through world-class fast-charging solutions. Fitting to TVS Motor vision of electrification, we envisage a wide and reliable charging infrastructure for two and three-wheeler EV customers across India, powered by renewable sources of energy such as solar”.

Tata will deploy all types of chargers including AC and DC for TVS iQube across India as currently, the scooter is available only in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Surat, Vizag, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad.

Adding to this, Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power said “This collaboration will further leverage our expertise to enhance synergy between sustainable mobility and renewable energy integration resulting in the creation of robust EV charging eco-system across India”
