The ‘Long Wheelbase’ version of the BMW X1 has gone on sale in India at Rs 49.90 lakh. This makes it Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the Standard Wheelbase model. Bookings for the SUV have been open since last week. The LWB model comes with a petrol powertrain only. Unlike the rest of the lineup, it does not get the option of a diesel engine. The good news is that buyers don’t have to dish out a premium for the M styling package.

BMW X1 LWB: What’s on offer?
Here’s the price list for the BMW X1 lineup.
| Variant | Price |
| X1 LWB sDrive 18Li | Rs 49.90 lakh |
| X1 sDrive 18i | Rs 50.90 lakh |
| iX1 eDrive LWB 20L | Rs 52.70 lakh |
The X1 LWB stands at dimensions of 4,616mm x 1,845mm x 1,641mm, and has a 2,800mm wheelbase. This makes it 116mm longer and 11mm taller than the standard X1. Its wheelbase is larger by 108mm. Since the LWB model is essentially a stretched version of the X1, it doesn’t differ in terms of design and styling. The larger model gets BMW’s iconic kidney grille and sharp LED headlamps. It retains the 18-inch alloy wheels but gets a chrome finish around its windows. The standard model has a blacked-out finish.
Inside, the legroom has expanded by 150mm and knee room by 109mm. The 15mm longer seat base gives more thigh support to the passenger. The seats also recline a bit further, reaching an angle of 28.5 degrees. The 540-litre boot capacity is a big improvement over the 476-litre boot space on the standard model. With the rear seats folded down, the boot space can be expanded to 1,700 litres.
No changes have been made when it comes to interior layout and instrumentation. The SUV continues to rock a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support on board. Other features include automatic climate control, powered front seats, ventilated seating, digital entry, wireless charging, connected car tech, automatic parking assist, a powered tailgate, a Harmon Kardon sound system, and more.
The BMW X1 LWB is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, direct-injection, turbo-petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 156hp and 230Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and offers a mileage of 15.5km/l. On the standard X1, this engine churns out 136hp. The LWB model is not available with a diesel engine.
