Last week, the Honda City facelift hit the market at a starting price of Rs 12 lakh. Honda has now revealed the official fuel economy of all three powertrains of the sedan. Buyers can opt the 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The hybrid model is exclusively available with an e-CVT. The numbers reveal a marginal bump in mileage, but the power output specs remain unchanged.

Honda City facelift: Take a look at the fuel economy offered by the midsize sedan
The Honda City facelift carries forward the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated, i-VTEC petrol engine from its outgoing model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 121hp and 145Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The manual transmission variants offer a fuel economy of 17.77km/l. Meanwhile, the CVT variants have a mileage of 17.97km/l.
The City e:HEV uses a strong hybrid setup in conjunction with the 1.5-litre petrol engine. It produces a maximum power output of 124hp and 253Nm of torque. The hybrid model comes with an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It offers a mileage of 27.26km/l, the best out of all the variants on offer. All three variants have a fuel tank capacity of 40 litres.
The big changes on the City facelift come along its exterior. The front fascia of the sedan features a new honeycomb grille, which is flanked on either side by sleek ‘Blade Eye’ LED headlamps. These headlamps are integrated with split LED DRLs. A sleek light bar runs across the width of the grille, connecting the two lighting elements. The chrome trim from the outgoing model gives way to a body-coloured panel. This section houses the Honda logo. The reworked bumper has a large central air dam with the same honeycomb pattern as the grille. It also houses two triangular air vents along the sides.
Honda hasn’t tweaked the profile of the sedan all too much. The only change here is the new design for the 16-inch dual-tone (Berlina Black & Dark-Clear Cut) alloy wheels. At the back, the bumper gets a two-tone finish and a mesh garnish that matches the honeycomb pattern of the front grille. The wrap-around Z-Edge LED tail lamps lend the rear section a fierce look.
Inside, the City facelift retains the dual-tone colour theme, but gets notable feature upgrades. The dashboard now houses a larger 10.1-inch free-floating touchscreen infotainment system. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The semi-digital instrument cluster has been carried forward from the outgoing model. The sedan also gets a 360-degree camera, active front ventilated seats, USB-C charging ports for front and back rows, wireless charging, an 8-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, connected car tech, and more.
The Level 2 ‘Honda Sensing’ ADAS suite on the City facelift comprises functions like Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (in e:HEV only), Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification System, and Auto High-Beam.

Final Thoughts
Prices for the City facelift range start at Rs 12 lakh and go up to Rs 17.15 lakh. The e:HEV (hybrid) model is priced at Rs 21 lakh. Honda is offering a 3-year standard warranty (with unlimited kilometres) with the sedan. This can be extended up to 7-10 years. The City continues to rival the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in India.
