Jeep has been making powerful SUVs that are widely selling in the Indian market. After being spotted once in China, a new model of the SUV has been spotted on a trailer in the USA. From the outside, the car looks like the same Jeep compass with some minor changes on the body but when looking closely at the windshield one can easily spot a high voltage sticker.
From the front, one can mix it up with a Compass 4xe but from the side view, only one fuel lid can be seen and we can conclude it’s a mild hybrid 1.3-litre engine, also used in Jeep Renegade. The badging of the car being a hybrid is neatly camoed. The release dates of the SUV with a newer version of the engine is unknown, but we can expect the transmission version to be the updated Getrag’s 7-DCT 300. Which has an integrated electric motor capable of 15 to 25kW of power on a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with the possibility of running up to 130kmph on just electric power.

As we know there is a lot of difference Between the SUVs selling in International markets Vs the ones in India. In the US the compass is offered with a 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated, petrol engine. That churns out 177 Hp and comes with an AWD layout. While the front-wheel-drive versions are offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, the AWD trim gets a 9-speed automatic as standard.
Comparing it to the Indian variant, which the company has recently updated looks closer to the 2022 Compass version selling internationally. The company added a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the support for Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Talking about the engine, Jeep offers the SUV in 2 variants firstly being a 1.4L turbo-petrol producing 163hp and another 2.0L turbo-diesel variant which produces 173hp. The SUV comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic.
It will be very interesting to see Jeep shifting from complete fuel mills to mild hybrids. This will be a small step towards the future of electric cars. We expect Jeep should release these mild-hybrid versions in India as well, as it will gives Indian consumers more options to go with.
