Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra SUV will launch in India on November 25. The concept model of the Tata Sierra was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. Since then, it has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times. Tata will launch the ICE model of the Sierra in India first, followed by the introduction of the all-electric model in 2026. It will sit between the Curvv crossover and the Harrier SUV in Tata’s portfolio.

With the Sierra, Tata Motors is bringing back its iconic nameplate from the ‘90s. The new model takes design inspiration from its ‘90s counterpart. The inspiration is apparent when you look at the curved rear windows, tall bonnet, and stout wheel arches of the 2025 model. The test mules suggest the presence of a sleek LED light bar running across the bonnet and sharp LED headlamps stacked at the bottom. Along the sides, the SUV rests on 19-inch alloy wheels. Its sharp roofline is a departure from the ’90s model. At the back, the LED headlamps are connected by a light bar.
Not much is known about the interior layout of the Tata Sierra so far. Recent reports suggest that it could utilise a new 3-screen setup for the digital instrumental cluster and the central and passenger-side touchscreen. Each screen could measure 12.3 inches. A similar setup was recently seen on the Mahindra XEV 9e. Tata could go for a dual-tone dashboard on its new SUV. A 4-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and an illuminated Tata logo will make an appearance in the driver’s cockpit. Features like ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging are also expected to make the cut. On the safety front, the Sierra will rock 6 airbags as standard, along with premium features like a 360-degree camera and a Level 2 ADAS package. Its Bharat NCAP safety rating will be revealed soon after launch.
Tata will equip the Sierra SUV with a brand new 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine. This engine made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023. The entry-level variants of the SUV could be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 1.5-litre ‘Kryojet’ diesel engine from Tata Curvv could also be made available for the Sierra. This engine generates a maximum power output of 118hp on the crossover and can be linked to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
