Skoda Slavia facelift to launch in India on August 18

Skoda India has confirmed that it will launch the facelifted version of its midsize sedan on August 18. The Skoda Slavia facelift has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions this year. The new version of the sedan will get cosmetic tweaks, feature updates, cabin refinements, and a new automatic gearbox for its 1-litre TSI engine.

Skoda Slavia facelift: Everything we know so far

All the test mules of the Slavia facelift spotted so far have had camouflage over their front and rear sections. The cutouts hint towards a new grille which could be similar to the one on the Skoda Kushaq. This grille will be integrated with segmented lighting elements. The front bumper, LED headlamps, and DRLs will be updated too. The rear section will feature an updated bumper and LED tail lamps. The profile of the test mules has been left undisguised since there are no big changes along the sides. The new model could be updated with a different design for the alloy wheels.

The interior layout of the Skoda facelift will also get a few tweaks. The dashboard is expected to flaunt premium trims. There will be soft-touch elements across the cabin. There won’t be a radical design shift, but the premium factor will go up a notch. The facelift will retain the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the current model. It will match this screen with an equally large digital instrument cluster. There will be wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on board.

Other features like ventilated front seats, front parking sensors, an 8-speaker audio system with a 380W output, an air purifier, a powered single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, 6 airbags, and Level 2 ADAS will also make the cut. Earlier this year, Skoda introduced a massage function for the rear seats on the Kushaq facelift. This feature could be carried over to the Slavia as well. If that is the case, Skoda will confirm it in the sedan’s promotional campaign.

No changes are expected under the hood of the sedan. The Slavia facelift will continue to be offered in 2 engine options – 1.0L TSI turbo petrol and 1.5L TSI turbo petrol. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power of 115hp and 175Nm peak torque. Currently, this engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or torque converter gearbox. Skoda will replace the latter with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 150hp and 250Nm peak torque. Transmission options for this engine include a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
