The Nissan Tekton is set to go on sale in India on July 9. It was recently spotted in Haryana, in what seemed to be a TVC shoot. The midsize SUV was completely undisguised. Nissan has started the promotional campaign for the Tekton online, releasing teaser images and dubbing it as the Baby Patrol. The SUV is a rebadged version of the Renault Duster, which was introduced in India back in March.

The newly surfaced Tekton spy shots give a clear, uninhibited look at its rear section. The design is consistent with the teaser images that the automaker has revealed so far. The LED tail lamps are connected by a sleek light bar that runs across the tailgate. The Nissan badging is positioned right between this light bar. The TEKTON lettering is studded in the lower section. The silver skid plate integrated into the rear bumper gives it a muscular look. At the top, the stop lamp lies just below the roof-mounted spoiler.
Previous images have revealed a Nissan Patrol-inspired design for the Tekton’s front fascia. The SUV gets sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The lighting segments on both sides are connected by a light bar. The TEKTON lettering is positioned on the bonnet. The grille houses the Nissan badge and has a red stripe running across it. Along the sides, the Tekton resembles the Renault Duster. It has a boxy stance. The SUV rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels. It has flared wheel arches. The rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillar. The front doors have pull-type handles.
Nissan has kept a tight lid on the Tekton’s interior so far. We expect it to get the same layout as the Duster. It will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. There will be wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on board. When it comes to features, the SUV will get dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and ventilated front seating.
Nissan Tekton will be mechanically identical to the Renault Duster. The latter is currently available in 2 powertrain options, with a third one set to join the lineup this festive season. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will generate a maximum power output of 100hp and 160Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine will produce 163hp and 280Nm. Buyers will get the option to link it to a 6-speed manual or DCT gearbox. The upcoming 1.8-litre strong hybrid engine is expected to launch in October.
