Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift gets a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP

Bharat NCAP has awarded the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift a 5-star safety rating. This rating applies to 4 trims of the SUV, LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+, across both powertrains – 1.5L petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol. BNCAP used the top-spec ZXI+ variant with the 1.5-litre petrol 6AT powertrain for the crash tests. The SUV is set to launch in India tomorrow, July 24.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift: Bharat NCAP crash test results explained

In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) Test, the Brezza facelift scored 30.41 points out of a possible 32. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, it garnered 14.41 points out of 16, showing good protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet. The chest and tibia showed adequate protection. Meanwhile, all parts of the passenger’s dummy showed good protection, except the tibia, which was adequately protected. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier and Side Pole Impact tests, the SUV offered good protection across the board.

In the Child Occupant Protection (COP) Test, the Brezza facelift scored 43 points out of a possible 49. This comprises a Dynamic score of 24 points (out of 24), a CRS installation score of 12 points (out of 12), and a Vehicle assessment score of 7 points (out of 13). The SUV was crash-tested using dummies for 18-month-olds and 3-year-olds. The SUV garnered the maximum points in frontal and side crash tests.

The ZXI+ (1.5L 6AT) variant used for these tests is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, seat belt reminders for all seats, seat belt pretensioners for front seats, ISOFIX child anchorages on the rear outboard seats, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Pedestrian Protection.

Maruti will add the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Fronx to the Brezza facelift’s lineup. This engine generates a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque, and can be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, retained from the outgoing model, puts out 101hp and 136Nm.

In terms of creature comforts, the upcoming Brezza facelift will pack a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument cluster, front seat ventilation, powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and more features.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Brezza facelift will be announced upon its launch tomorrow. The automaker is currently accepting bookings for the SUV at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Upon launch, the 2026 Brezza will continue to rival the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Syros, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Tata Nexon in India.
