Kia Syros EV launched in India at a starting price of Rs 13.50 lakh

The Kia Syros EV has gone on sale in India at a starting price of Rs 13.50 lakh. The all-electric SUV comes in 5 trim levels – HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and X-Line. The top-spec X-Line variant fetches Rs 20 lakh. There are 2 battery pack options on offer – 42kWh and 51.4kWh. Buyers can book their model for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Kia will commence the delivery rollout on July 30.

The Syros EV stands at dimensions of 3,995mm x 1,805mm x 1,670mm and has a 2,550mm wheelbase. It retains the design of its ICE counterpart, save for a few EV-exclusive changes. This includes exclusive ‘EV’ badging on the tailgate and a charging port cutout on the front fender. There are 9 monotone colour options on offer – Ivory Silver Matte, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red, Ivory Silver Gloss, Aurora Black Pearl, Glacier White Pearl, and Matte Graphite (exclusive to X-Line).

Buyers can choose from 3 interior colour themes – Cloud Blue and Grey with Mint accents, Onyx Black and Off-White with Off-White accents, and Onyx Black and Hunter Green with Hunter Green accents. The layout and instrumentation have been carried forward from the ICE model. The dashboard flaunts dual 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster, along with a 5-inch touchscreen panel for the automatic climate control system. There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board.

The Syros EV also packs features like an 8-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system, a smart dashcam with dual cameras, a 4-way powered driver’s seat, ventilation for front and rear seats, smart key, wireless charging, Vehicle to Load (V2L) charging, and more. Safety features of the electric SUV include 6 airbags, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control, Emergency Stop Signal, Tyre Pressure Management System, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold, ISOFIX anchorages, and Level 2 ADAS with 16 autonomous functions.

As mentioned earlier, the Syros EV comes in 2 battery pack sizes – 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The 51.4kWh battery pack (ER) offers a 526km driving range. It can be charged from 10% to 100% in 4 hours and 50 minutes using an 11kW home AC charger. A 100kW DC fast charger can top it up in 39 minutes.

Meanwhile, the standard 42kWh battery pack can go up to 443km on a full charge. It takes 4 hours flat to go from 10% to 100% using an 11kW home AC charger. A 100kW DC fast charger takes 39 minutes to achieve the same feat. All variants of the EV are powered by a single electric motor that produces 255Nm of torque. The 42kWh variants generate a maximum power output of 133hp, while the 51.4kWh variants pump out 168hp.

As mentioned earlier, the Syros EV can be booked for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The EV will start reaching the customers from July 30. It rivals the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in India.
