Mahindra Thar Roxx: New level of sound immersion

The 4-channel Dolby Atmos audio system gives a big boost to the Mahindra Thar Roxx’s entertainment experience. It adds depth and realism to the audio output, making for enjoyable journeys and commutes. The Gaana app is integrated into the SUV’s 10.2-inch free-floating infotainment system, making music-listening more accessible. The 9-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system on the SUV produces a 400W output.

Other features on the lifestyle SUV include ambient lighting, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, a front armrest, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, and an ADAS package.

Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in 2 powertrain options. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 174hp and 380Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.2-litre diesel engine puts out 172hp and 370Nm. These engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Commenting on the collaboration with Mahindra Auto, Mr Karan Grover, Senior Director, Commercial Partnerships – IMEA, Dolby Laboratories said, “We are excited about the possibilities that our collaboration with Mahindra can bring for customers, especially in India. With Dolby Atmos in Thar ROXX AX7L, we’re taking the car journey to an entirely new level by transforming the interior cabin into a personalised concert hall on wheels, making every ride an immersive audio experience that complements the adventurous spirit of the Thar ROXX AX7L.”

Final Thoughts

It remains to be seen whether the 4-channel Dolby Atmos tech will also be added to Mahindra’s two new all-electric offerings – BE 6 and XEV 9e. The 3-door Thar may also get this feature, depending on its success with the Roxx model. Prices for the Mahindra Thar Roxx start at Rs 12.99 lakh and go up to Rs 23.09 lakh. Its primary rivals in India include other lifestyle SUVs like the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
