Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor compact SUV launched in India

Toyota Bharat has launched its Fronx-based compact SUV in India. Prices for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor start at Rs 7.74 lakh and go up to Rs 13.03 lakh. The Fronx very narrowly undercuts the Taisor by Rs 23,000. The top-spec variants of both SUVs are priced the same. The Taisor gets new cosmetic tweaks over the Fronx but shares the platform and powertrain with its Maruti Suzuki counterpart.

Talking about the design, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor’s front fascia is marked by its redesigned grille which flaunts a honeycomb pattern and a chrome garnish. The front and rear bumpers have been reworked as well. Flanking the grille on either side are LED DRLs. Along the sides, the S+ and G variants get all-black alloy wheels. The SUV features body cladding on the wheel arch and side doors. In profile, the Taisor has a sleek and sloping roofline. At the back, the tail lamps are connected by a light bar. The SUV also gets a shark fin antenna and a rear skid plate.

The cabin of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor gets a dual-tone colour theme for the dashboard and the upholstery. The flat bottom steering wheel is wrapped in leather. The dashboard also accommodates a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features on the SUV include automatic climate control with rear AC vents, keyless entry, paddle shifters, wireless charging, push start/stop, electrically adjustable OVRMs, a heads-up display, and more.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor gets the same powertrain options as the Fronx. The 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is also available on the Taisor and produces a maximum power output of 100hp and 148Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The 1.2-litre K series engine is also available in a CNG configuration.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is available in 5 colour options – Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red, Lucent Orange. The White, Silver, and Grey paint shades are also available in a dual-tone theme. In India, the Taisor rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
