The front fascia of the SUV stands out with the IQ.LIGHT Matrix LED headlamps. The tail lamps use the same design language. The Volkswagen logos at the front and back of the SUV are illuminated. The profile reveals strong character lines and 19-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels.

Inside, the front seats of the Tayron R-Line are decked with premium Varena leather upholstery. The ergoActive Plus technology brings 10-point pressure massage and active ventilation functions to these seats. The SUV has three rows that can seat a total of 7 people. With the third row collapsed, the boot space gets expanded to 850 litres.

In terms of instrumentation, the Tayron R-Line gets a 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. There’s support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include a wide panoramic sunroof (covering all three rows), a 3-zone climate control system, an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, 30-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, and more. Safety features include 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, a blind spot monitor, hill start assist, hill hold assist, and more. There is a Level 2 ADAS suite on board as well.

The Tayron R-Line is mechanically identical to the Tiguan R-Line. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 204hp and 320Nm of torque. It is linked to a 7-speed DCT. The AWD configuration channels the power produced by the engine to all four wheels. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 224km/h.
