Tata Sierra: Everything we know so far

The newest spy shots reveal a camouflaged test mule of the Tata Sierra on a road test near Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. It appears to be the same size as its all-electric sibling. Though the test mule was draped in heavy covers, we could make out full-width LED light bars at the front and the back and flush handles on the door panels. The C-pillar and OVRMs appear to be blacked out. The panoramic rear glass stands out in the test mules. The SUV has a boxy profile.

So far, no details have emerged about Tata Sierra’s interior. We expect it to get a triple-screen system for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. This will include a 14-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. There will be support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features will include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, an illuminated Tata logo on the touchscreen, cooled storage, dual-zone climate control, and more. A Level 2 ADAS package is also expected to make the cut.

The Tata Sierra will be made available in multiple powertrain options. The entry-level variants will likely feature the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, borrowed from the Curvv crossover. This engine generates a maximum power output of 120hp and 170Nm. The higher variants are likely to be powered by the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 168hp and 280Nm of torque. Lastly, the Sierra will borrow its 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine from the Harrier and Safari SUVs. This engine produces a maximum power output of 168hp and 350Nm of torque. All engines will be E20 compliant. There will be manual and automatic gearbox options on offer.

The all-electric version of the Sierra will likely borrow its battery pack options from the Harrier EV. The 65kWh variants are powered by a single electric motor that’s mounted on the rear axle. This motor generates a maximum power output of 235hp. Meanwhile, the dual motor setup on the 75kWh variants churns out 390hp and 504Nm. These variants can go from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
