Tata Sierra ICE spotted testing for the first time

The all-electric Tata Sierra has made several Expo appearances in the last two years. It has also been spotted on several road tests in India on multiple occasions. Now, the ICE version of the midsize SUV has been spied on for the first time. The test mule was reportedly refuelling at a petrol station. While covered under heavy camouflage, it had the distinct features of an ICE vehicle.

Tata Sierra ICE: What to expect?

The exhaust pipes on the rear end of the SUV were a dead giveaway that it was an ICE model. The front grille was completely draped. Dimensionally, the ICE Sierra is identical to its all-electric sibling. It also retains styling and cosmetic details like full-width LED light bars, flush-sitting door handles, and all-black OVRMs and C pillars. The front fascia remains tall and flat. The LED headlamps could be stacked vertically on either side of the grille.

The ICE model of the Tata Sierra will get multiple engine options. The automaker could offer 1 petrol and 1 diesel option, 2 petrol options, or 1 diesel and 2 petrol options. The entry-level variants will likely feature the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine also does duty on the Curvv crossover, where it produces 120hp and 170Nm. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine on the higher variants will generate a maximum power output of 168hp and 280Nm of torque. Lastly, the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine will likely be the same one that does duty on the Harrier and Safari SUVs. This engine produces a maximum power output of 168hp and 350Nm of torque. All engines will be E20 compliant. There will manual and automatic gearbox options.

The Sierra EV could get the 65kWh and 75kWh battery options from the Harrier EV. The 65kWh variants are powered by a single electric motor that’s mounted on the rear axle. This motor generates a maximum power output of 235hp. Meanwhile, the dual motor setup on the 75kWh variants churns out 390hp and 504Nm. These variants can go from 0–100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
