One of the big reasons behind Tata Punch’s success in India is the range of versatile powertrain options. The compact SUV comes in petrol, CNG, and all-electric powertrains. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. In a CNG configuration, the output numbers of this engine drop down to 73hp and 103Nm. The CNG model is available with a manual transmission only.

The Tata Punch EV comes in two battery pack options – a 25kWh battery pack with a driving range of 315km and a 35kWh unit that can power the EV for 421km. There are two charging options as well – a 3.3kW wall charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. With a 50kW DC charger, the Tata Punch EV can be charged from 10-80% in 56 minutes.

The Long Range variants of the Tata Punch EV produce a maximum power output of 122hp and 190Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Standard variant puts out 82hp and 114Nm. The former can go from 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds with the top speed capped at 140kmph. Meanwhile, the latter can accomplish the same feat in 13.5 seconds.

In terms of features and instrumentation, the Tata Punch rocks a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, rear AC vents, a fast C-type USB charger, and a grand console with an armrest. The Punch is one of the safest SUV in its segment, having secured a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP last year.

Commenting on the new milestone, Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Punch embodies the spirit of a new India — bold, self-assured, and ready to forge its own path. Crossing the 6 lakh milestone is more than a production achievement; it’s a reflection of the immense trust that over 6 lakh Indians have placed in a vehicle that represents confidence, presence, and a fresh start to their journeys. It’s especially heartening to see how Punch has become the natural first choice for so many first-time car buyers. Punch is not just a car — it’s a breakthrough brand that has sparked a cultural shift and redefined what India expects from the first car in their family. With the launch of the ‘India Ki SUV’ campaign, we celebrate this extraordinary journey and the customers who made it possible. This is more than a celebration of numbers — it’s a tribute to a product that made SUV attitude accessible to all, without ever compromising on substance.”
