Tata Punch facelift: What do the spy shots reveal?
The facelifted version of the Tata Punch brings the SUV’s interior design language up to speed with the rest of Tata’s portfolio. The new 2-spoke steering wheel has integrated audio and cruise controls and an illuminated Tata logo. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been upgraded to a 10.25-inch unit. It will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The semi-digital instrument cluster has been replaced by a 7-inch fully digital TFT unit. The rest of the dashboard layout remains unchanged from the soon-to-be-outgoing model. Touch-based HVAC controls are also expected on the new Punch SUV.

When it comes to the exterior, the new Tata Punch facelift will borrow design elements from its all-electric sibling. The front fascia will feature sleeker LED headlamps and DRLs. The front and rear bumpers will also be redesigned. Along the sides, the SUV will get a new look for its alloy wheels. The design for the LED tail lamps will be inspired by the new crop of Tata SUVs.

No changes are expected under the hood of the Tata Punch facelift. The compact SUV will retain the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine from the current model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 86hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. In a CNG configuration, the output numbers of this engine drop down to 73hp and 103Nm. In a CNG avatar, the SUV is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The facelifted model will likely offer an AMT gearbox with the CNG powertrain as well.

Final Thoughts
Tata Punch is one of the most popular compact SUVs in India, having sold over 5 lakh units so far. Its prices start at Rs 6.20 lakh and go up to Rs 10.32 lakh. The facelifted model will demand a small premium over this asking price. We expect it to start at Rs 6.60 lakh. Upon launch, the Tata Punch facelift will continue to rival the Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, Citroen C3, Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Skoda Kylaq, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza in India.
