Tata Motors will be introducing the ‘Dark Edition’ for the Nexon range in March. These special edition models will be available for the mid-spec and higher trims of the SUV. The Harrier and Safari Dark Editions were released alongside the facelifted SUVs. The Dark Edition for the Tata Nexon EV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this month. Prices for the special edition models will be revealed upon launch.

Tata Nexon: Dark Editions to join the lineup in March

Here are all the Tata Nexon trims that will get a Dark Edition – Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S, and Fearless+ S. As is tradition, the Dark Edition of the Nexon will feature an all-black exterior theme. This includes a blacked-out grille, bumpers, roof rails, and alloy wheels. Even the Tata logo on the SUV will be finished in black. The Nexon EV Dark Edition showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo featured all these cosmetic changes.

Inside, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition will get an all-black treatment as well. It remains to be seen whether the EV avatar of the SUV will get some special highlights. The seat upholstery, steering wheel, and control knob are set to be covered in black. The interior layout and instrument will remain unchanged. Launched in September 2023, the Tata Nexon facelift has a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel on the SUV follows the two-spoke design language. Other features include connected car tech, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, voice-assisted sunroof, touch controls for the HVAC, and more.

Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts: What’s new?

The Dark Edition trims of Tata Nexon are available with 2 engine options – the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former puts out 120hp and 170Nm while the latter produces 115hp and 260Nm. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol engine also gets 7-speed DCT and 5-speed manual transmission options.

Conclusion

Expect a small premium on the Tata Nexon Dark Editions in comparison to their regular trims. Upon launch, it will rival the all-black editions of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Regular variants of the Nexon also rival Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. Meanwhile, its EV avatar faces sole competition with the Mahindra XUV400.
