Skoda India launched the Kylaq SUV in India last year. Garnering over 10,000 bookings in just 10 days, the Skoda Kylaq was an instant success in the country. After selling out the entry-level Classic variant within days, Skoda resumed taking orders for it in January 2025. This trim is still in the highest demand, with Skoda imposing a 5-month waiting period on buyers.

Skoda Kylaq: New benchmark in the compact SUV segment
The Classic variant of the Skoda Kylaq SUV demands a waiting period of 5 months. Meanwhile, the mid-spec Signature and Signature+ variants have a 3-month waiting period. Lastly, the top-spec Prestige trim has a waiting period of 2 months. Skoda has prioritised the production and rollout of the top-spec variants, leading to a diminished waiting period.
Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 178Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox is not available on the entry-level Classic variant. The SUV can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 10.5 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 188kmph.
In terms of features, the Skoda Kylaq gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment runs Skoda’s new proprietary OS. Other features include six-way electric seats with ventilation, cruise control, steering-mounted paddle shifters, an electric sunroof, and more. The SUV was awarded 5 stars by Bharat NCAP for its safety features.

Final Thoughts
Skoda sold over 5,000 units of the Kylaq SUV in March, taking its monthly sales to 7,422 units. With the success of the Skoda Kylaq, the automaker plans to achieve a monthly sales target of 8,000 units. The automaker has extended the introductory offer for the Kylaq till April 30. Its introductory prices start at Rs 7.89 lakh for the Classic trim and go up to Rs 14.40 lakh for the Prestige trim. The SUV will become costlier in May. It faces competition from other compact SUVs like Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Kia Sonet.
