Prices for Mahindra XUV700, Thar, and Scorpio N hiked by up to Rs 57,000

Mahindra has hiked the prices for three of its most popular SUVs in India – Scorpio N, Thar, and XUV700. The price hike was initially reported last year. Apart from Mahindra, automakers across the board are hiking the prices of their SUVs this month, citing the rise in production costs. Mahindra XUV700 receives the biggest price hike out of the three SUVs, an increment of Rs 57,000.

Mahindra XUV700

The 7-seater AX7 L petrol MT variant of the Mahindra XUV700 receives the largest price hike of Rs 57,000. The price for its diesel counterparts has been increased by Rs 53,000. The good news is that eight variants of the Mahindra XUV700 have also received a price cut. This includes the four entry-level petrol variants, which get a cut of Rs 15,000. The 5-seater AX5 AT diesel variant gets the biggest price drop of Rs 21,000.

The Mahindra XUV700 range now starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 26.99 lakh. It is powered by a 2.0L TGDi turbo petrol unit delivering 197hp of maximum power and 380Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that delivers 185hp of power and 420Nm of torque with a 6-speed manual and 450Nm torque with 6-speed automatic transmission in the top-spec variant.

Mahindra Scorpio N

Apart from the 7-seater Z8 AWD AT variant, all variants of the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N receive a price hike. The petrol entry-level variant of the Scorpio N is now dearer by Rs 34,000 while the entry-level diesel variant gets its prices bumped by Rs 24,000. The 6-seater Z8 MT variant gets the biggest price hike of Rs 40,000.

Prices for the Scorpio N now start at Rs 13.60 lakh and go up to Rs 24.54 lakh. The two powertrain options available on the SUV are a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2L diesel engine unit that also powers the Mahindra Thar and XUV700. The petrol unit delivers 197 hp of power while the diesel unit puts 185 hp of power. The SUV comes with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering four modes – Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.

Mahindra Thar

Mahindra’s lifestyle SUV gets a price hike of up to Rs 35,000. The AX(O) diesel MT variant receives the maximum price hike. The LX AT petrol variant is now dearer by Rs 34,000. Prices for the Thar now start at Rs 11.25 lakh and go up to Rs 17.20 lakh.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine found in the base variants of the SUV offers a maximum power output of 118hp and 300Nm torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The entry-level variants are only available in 2WD. The 2.0-litre petrol engine puts out 152hp and 300Nm while the 2.2-litre diesel engine produces 130hp and 300Nm. These engines are offered with a 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmission. The diesel variant is exclusively available in a 4WD configuration, while the petrol engine gets a 2WD option as well.

Conclusion

Expect other automakers to revise the prices of their SUV offerings in the coming days as well. Mahindra has some exciting releases lined up for 2024, including the 5-door variant of the Thar. The automaker recently launched the XUV400 Pro in India at an introductory price of Rs 15.49 lakh. It remains Mahindra’s only EV in India.
