MG Comet Blackstorm Edition: What’s on offer?

In true ‘Blackstorm’ fashion, the MG Comet Blackstorm Edition flaunts an all-black exterior with red highlights. The hood branding, fog lamp garnish, front and skid rear skid plates, wheel covers, and body side moulding are finished in red. The special ‘Blackstorm’  badging can be found on the side fender.

Inside, the headrests of the front seats have the ‘Blackstorm’ branding. The cabin exudes the all-black look. In terms of feature upgrades, the special edition EV gets a 4-speaker sound system. The regular variant has a 2-speaker setup.

The MG Comet EV is one of the most feature-decked urban commuters in the market. It flaunts two 10.25-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. The two-spoke steering wheel is integrated with physical controls. There are a total of 55 connected features onboard the EV. These features can be accessed via a dedicated app. Other features include ESC, electronic parking brake, hill-hold control, and more.

Things remain the same under the hood as the MG Comet Blackstorm Edition continues to be powered by a single electric motor. This electric motor produces a maximum power output of 42hp and 110Nm of torque. The 17.3kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 230km. It is sourced from Tata AutoComp and is rated IP67 for dust and water resistance. There are 2 home chargers available with the EV. The 3.3kW adapter can fully charge it in 7 hours. The 7.4kW charger can accomplish the same feat in 3.5 hours.

Conclusion

The regular MG Comet lineup consists of 3 variants – Executive, Excite, and Exclusive. Its prices start at Rs 7 lakh and go up to Rs 9.84 lakh. It is the first all-electric MG offering to get the Blackstorm Edition. As mentioned earlier, the price of the non-BaaS model of the Comet Blackstorm Edition is yet to be announced. While the urban commuter has no real rivals in the Indian market, it competes against Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and Tata Tigor EV.
