Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: A roaring success

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara crossed the 2 lakh sales landmark in July 2024. It took just 4 months for Maruti to sell the next 50,000 units of the SUV. In November 2024 alone, it sold 10,148 units. As it stands, the Grand Vitara commands 17% of Maruti Suzuki’s FY2025 SUV sales. The Fronx SUV is the only Nexa offering ahead of the Vitara. However, when it comes to cumulative sales, the Grand Vitara is over 12,000 units ahead of the Fronx.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is also the fastest midsize SUV to cross the 2.5 lakh sales milestone. Its closest rival, Hyundai Creta, took 25 months to accomplish this feat. The Grand Vitara has sold 79,982 in FY2025 so far, taking 22 months to cross 2,50,000 sales.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is available in two engine variants – a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and Toyota’s 1.5-litre TNGA petrol engine with a strong hybrid system. The former puts out 103hp and 137Nm, while the latter produces 92hp and 137Nm by itself and 115hp and 137Nm in a strong hybrid setup. The electric motor alone produces a maximum power of 80hp with 141Nm peak torque.

Talking about the functionalities, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is one of the most feature-packed SUVs in the country. It sports a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, a Head-Up Display (HUD), and a panoramic sunroof. The Grand Vitara is the first Maruti offering in India to come with a panoramic sunroof.

Currently, the Grand Vitara rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder in India.
