Maruti Suzuki has unlocked a new production achievement in India. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV has crossed the 5 lakh production milestone. The compact SUV was launched in India in March 2023 and found immediate success domestically. The Fronx is also exported to foreign markets in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is one of the most successful cars in the new ‘compact SUV’ segment. It took the SUV less than a year to garner 1 lakh sales. In July 2025, it crossed 1 lakh exports.

The 3 lakh production mark was crossed in November 2024. By February 2025, Maruti had produced 4 lakh units of the Fronx.

One of the biggest drivers of sales for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is its expansive feature list. The SUV is packed with features like a 9.0-inch Smart Pro Play+ infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Head Up Display, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. Maruti recently upgraded the Fronx to offer 6 airbags as standard across all variants. Other safety features include Electronic Stability Program (ESC), ABS with EBD, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera and more.

The choice of 2 engine options is also one of the big reasons why the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is so popular in its segment. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine can produce a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm peak torque. This engine can also be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx start at Rs 7.59 lakh and go up to Rs 13.06 lakh. A hybrid model of the SUV is currently in the works and has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. Maruti is planning a festive season launch for the hybrid SUV. As things stand, the standard model of Maruti Suzuki Fronx rivals Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
