A facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is reportedly in the works. The sub-4m SUV was recently spotted on an emission test in Haryana. This hints towards a new powertrain setup for the SUV. The front and rear bumpers were completely camouflaged, suggesting cosmetic tweaks. Previous spy shots of the compact SUV have revealed key interior updates.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift: What to expect?
This big change on the Maruti Suzuki Brezza will come under the hood. The current model packs a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine under its hood. It generates a maximum power output of 101hp and 136Nm torque. Due to its high displacement, it is taxed at a 40% GST rate. A smaller engine with less displacement would make the SUV eligible for B-segment tax benefits.

Maruti could equip the new model of the Brezza with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine or a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both of these engines qualify for the segment’s tax benefits. These engines also power the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre K Series NA petrol engine produces 90hp and 113Nm. Both engines are available with manual and automatic transmissions.

Maruti will also retain the current 1.5-litre NA engine on the Brezza facelift. Rumours suggest that the CNG powertrain based on this engine will get a unibody tank. This will significantly improve the SUV’s boot space capacity. The Brezza CNG produces a maximum power output of 88hp and 121.5Nm torque. It offers a mileage of 25.51km/kg.

The exterior updates to the Brezza facelift will be minimal. It will get revised front and rear bumpers along with a new design for the grille. Inside, it will get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The current model uses a 9-inch unit. Spy shots have also revealed a 6-speed manual gearbox on the new model. Other features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, seat ventilation, powered driver’s seat, and ambient lighting are expected to make the cut. The SUV will get 6 airbags as standard across all variants. It remains to be seen whether Maruti will equip it with an ADAS package to make it more competitive in its segment.
