Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition launched in India

Mahindra has added a new ‘Ebony Edition’ to XUV700’s lineup. Prices for the Ebony Edition of Mahindra XUV700 start at Rs 19.64 lakh and go up to Rs 24.14 lakh. It is available in AX7 and AX7 L variants with manual and automatic transmission options across petrol and diesel powertrains. The special edition dons an all-black look.

The Ebony Edition of Mahindra XUV700 has an all-black exterior. The Stealth Black colour scheme is accompanied by brushed silver skid plates. The front grille has black-on-black inserts and the OVRMs are blacked out. The R18 alloy wheels are finished in black as well. The special edition SUV carries exclusive ‘Ebony’ badging on the tailgate and front fenders. No changes have been made to the SUV’s design.

The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition gets the all-black treatment in the cabin as well. The black leatherette upholstery and dark trims are contrasted by silver accents along the centre console and door panels. The light grey roof liner completes the dual-tone interior theme. Since it is based on the top-spec AX7 trims, the special edition SUV rocks premium features like twin 12.5-inch touchscreens for the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Sony 3D sound system, a 360-degree camera, Alexa support, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, a blind spot monitor, and an ADAS package.

There are no mechanical changes on the special edition Mahindra XUV700. The Ebony Edition is available in 2 powertrain options – 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel. The former produces a maximum power output of 200hp and 380Nm of torque. The diesel engine puts out 185hp and 420Nm in the top-spec AX7 variants. Paired with an automatic transmission, the torque output jumps to 450Nm. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

The Ebony Edition variants of the Mahindra XUV700 demand a premium of Rs 15,000 on the variants they are based on. The special edition is only available in a 7-seat layout. It does not get AWD. The Mahindra XUV700 rivals the likes of Tata Safari, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector and Hector Plus, and Kia Seltos in India.
