Land Rover Defender Octa: Everything you need to know

The Defender Octa is based on the 110 body style. However, it is 28mm higher and 68mm wider, clearing the ground at 323mm. It can wade through 1 metre of water, which is 100mm deeper than any other Defender. This is also made possible by tough underbody protection. It carries forward the signature Defender look but gets a widened stance and a new grille. The SUV rests on 22-inch alloy wheels and all-season tyres. The diamond ‘Octa’ badging rests on C pillars. The new rear bumper accommodates a four-exit active exhaust system.

Inside, the Land Rover Defender Octa gets an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 3D knit ‘Performance’ seats for the driver and passenger have integrated headrests and supportive bolsters. Making use of the Body and Soul audio technology, these seats vibrate in sync with the music.

The Land Rover Defender Octa is powered by the BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8 engine. On the Octa, this engine produces a maximum power output of 626hp and 750Nm of torque. The SUV can go from 0-96 kmph in just 4 seconds. Its top speed has been capped at 250 kmph. The chassis of the SUV has been reworked, and it comes with a 6D Dynamic suspension system with pitch and roll control. The new ‘Octa’ drive mode on the SUV focuses on its off-road performance and has dedicated anti-lock braking and launch control.

Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said: “Defender has been a game-changer for us in India, emerging as not only our best-selling model but also the highest-selling model in its category, with stupendous growth in demand since its launch. This iconic vehicle has built an unshakeable brand equity in the market, resonating deeply with clientele who value its unmatched capability, luxury, and adventure. Today, with the launch of Defender OCTA, we are introducing the toughest and the most durable model in the Defender family, that takes luxury and high-performance capability to another level. With the New Defender OCTA, we are offering a vehicle that is not only capable of conquering the most challenging terrains but also delivering a premium driving experience.”
