Kia EV9 launched in India at Rs 1.30 crore

Kia India has launched the all-electric EV9 in India at Rs 1.30 crore. It becomes the automaker’s flagship all-electric offering in the country. The Kia EV9 is a CBU import and is available in a single GT-Line trim. The electric SUV broke cover globally in March 2023. It was crowned the World Car Of The Year 2024. The India-spec version of the EV9 is available in a single battery pack option.

Kia EV9: Everything you need to know 

The India-spec Kia EV9 looks identical to its international version. The SUV stands at dimensions of 5,015 x 1,980 x 1,780mm and has a 3,100mm wheelbase. It gets a closed-off digital pattern lightning grille with Starmap DRLs and Intelligent Ice Cube LED headlamps positioned on either side. The SUV rests on 20-inch sporty crystal-cut alloy wheels. At the back, it gets Starmap LED rear combination lamps.

Inside, the Kia EV9 sports a triple display unit. There are two 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster along with a 5-inch unit for the HVAC controls. The 2 + 2 + 2 seating layout features captain seats for the middle row. These captain seats are 8-way power-adjustable and are equipped with heating, ventilation, leg support, and massage functions. The front passenger seat is 12-way adjustable while the driver’s seat is 18-way adjustable. The extendable centre console tray has extra storage underneath it.

The Level 2 ADAS package on the Kia EV9 offers features like  Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, High Beam Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Safe Exit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and more.

The India-spec version of the Kia EV9 gets a 99.9kWh battery pack. It offers a driving range of 561km. With a DC fast charger, this battery pack can be charged from 10-80% in 24 minutes. The dual-electric motor powering the SUV generates a maximum power output of 384hp and 700Nm of torque.

Conclusion

Kia EV9 is available in five colour options – Ocean Blue, Pebble Grey, Pearl White, Aurora Black, and Panthera Metal. It rivals BMW iX, Mercedes EQE, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Volkswagen XC40 Recharge.
