Jeep India has added a new 2WD Diesel AT variant to the Compass lineup. This new Jeep Compass automatic variant is priced at Rs 23.99 lakh. Previously, the automatic transmission was only available on 4WD variants of the Compass. While the new automatic variant has not been added to the entry-level Sport trim, it still makes the automatic gearbox more affordable for buyers.

As mentioned earlier, Jeep India has added the 2WD AT variant to the Longitude and upwards trims of the Compass. The SUV is available in a total of 5 trims – Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited, and Model S. The Longitude+, Limited, and Model S trims also get 2WD AT variants. These variants are priced at Rs 26.49 lakh, Rs 27.99 lakh, and Rs 29.99 lakh respectively. Jeep has also reduced the prices for the entry-level manual variant of the Sport trim. This variant now costs Rs 20.49 lakh.
The 2.0-litre diesel engine on the Jeep Compass produces a maximum power output of 170hp and 350Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission. The SUV offers a fuel efficiency of 16.2 kmpl.
Apart from a new transmission option, the Jeep Compass also gets a design tweak on the alloy wheels. The Limited and Model S trims also get a new chrome grille. The SUV continues to be offered with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, dual-zone AC, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and more.

Earlier this year, the automaker had discontinued the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine for Jeep Compass due to the new emission norms. However, it plans on bringing back the turbo petrol engine later this year. A new Overland Edition has also been added to the Jeep Merdian lineup. The SUV rivals MG Hector and Tata Harrier along with other premium SUVs like Citroen C5, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Hyundai Tucson.
