Citroen C3 Aircross: What to expect?

Citroen C3 Aircross enters a hotly contested midsize SUV segment in India which is currently dominated by the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Grand Vitara, and Urban Cruiser HyRyder. While the automaker has kept a tight light on the specifications of the SUV, the recent spy shots give away some of the design elements.

Citroen C3 hatchback

Since the Citroen C3 Aircross is based on the C3 hatchback, a lot of the hatchback’s styling is expected to be seen on the SUV as well. The C3 Aircross will get the same split headlamps, grille, and wraparound tail lamps as its hatchback sibling. The midsize SUV will obviously be a bigger vehicle featuring an SUV-like stance. It is expected to be 4.2 metres long.

Citroen C3 hatchback

The interior layout of the C3 Aircross will be somewhat different from the C3 hatchback. The dashboard layout will be changed for the SUV and it will feature a bigger touchscreen infotainment system than the hatchback. Higher-end variants of Citroen C3 Aircross may also get the automatic climate control feature. There will also be a third seating row, maximizing the seating capacity.

Citroen C3 hatchback

The Citroen C3 Aircross will use the same powertrain as the C3 hatchback. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm peak torque on the hatchback. Gearbox options for the SUV are currently unknown. Citroen may also introduce an all-electric version of the C3 Aircross later this year.

Conclusion

Citroen C3 Aircross will go on sale a few months after its debut. Citroen could also schedule a festive season launch for the SUV. Upon launch, the Citroen C3 Aircross will rival Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
