River Indie: Pushing the boundaries
River Indie is manufactured at the automaker’s plant in Hoskote, Karnataka. This facility is capable of producing 1 lakh units annually. It spans over 1.20 lakh sq ft. It has automated lines for battery packs and vehicle assembly.
At the time of its launch, River Indie made waves with its radical design language and bold aesthetic. The twin-beam headlamps and clip-on handlebars are the biggest highlights of its front fascia. Along the sides, the electric scooter rests on 14-inch wheels, which is a first for the segment. The Indie boasts tremendous storage space with a 43-litre under-seat capacity and a 12-litre front glove box. The Lock & Load pannier-stays on the sides can be customised to serve multiple purposes. In November 2024, River Mobility updated the Indie to include a chain final drive, another first in the segment.Â
River Indie is equipped with an IP67-rated 4kWh battery pack. On a full charge, the electric scooter offers a driving range of 161km. The electric motor generates a maximum power output of 6.7kW and 26Nm of torque. The scooter can go from 0-40kmph in under 4 seconds while the top speed has been capped at 90kmph.
The River Indie is packed with interesting features like reverse parking assist, side stand cutoff, LCD dash, LED lighting, USB charging ports, and add-on luggage options. There are 3 ride modes on offer – Eco, Ride, and Rush.
