Yamaha is famous in the two-wheeler industry. They released a new generation of Ray Z with tons of updates in the engine as well as in the design language. The company launched two scooters in the segment, the first being Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and the second one is Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid. The price of the scooter starts from Rs 76,830 ex-showroom India. Here are the rest of the details of the scooter.
Design and Features
The design of the scooter is inspired by the race bikes by Yamaha. The Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Rally Fi Hybrid come with Automatic Start & Stop system, Quiet Engine Start System and a side stand engine cut-off switch. Other features include an LED headlight with a sporty design, digital instrument cluster that gets Bluetooth connectivity with Yamaha’s Motorcycle Connect X app.
It offers features such as Answer Back, Parking Record & Hazard Locate my Vehicle, Riding History. The scooter has a 190 mm front disc brake with Unified Brake System (UBS), which works close to ABS in functionality, wide 110 mm rear tyre, and 21-litre under-seat storage that is enough for a half helmet.
Both the Ray ZR and Street Rally hybrid scooters are powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8 BHP of maximum power at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 10.3 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The scooters come with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG), it basically is an electric motor that functions as a hybrid engine to provide a power boost under acceleration.
The instrument cluster is paired with an indicator light that notifies the rider when the Power Assist function is active. When the throttle is cut back or the engine rpm exceeds the prescribed level the Power Assist function is cancelled.
It’s exciting to see that even Yamaha is stepping its game up to enter the electric vehicle market. With these hybrid motors, we can see a start of fully electric vehicles from Yamaha as well. Recently the company also announced that it has been working on a new electric vehicle platform.
