New Yamaha R15M spotted in showrooms ahead of its launch

The Yamaha YZF R15 is one of the most selling bikes in India and is a favourite machine for new riders. The sales figures of R15 were always high. The only point that the Yamaha lovers used to complain about was over the more track oriented R15 version available in the International markets. Well, like always, the company listened to them and now we have leaks of R15M, which will be a sportier version of good old V3. The bike was spotted testing in a camouflage wrap earlier and now the bike has arrived in select Yamaha showrooms ahead of its launch. Here is everything we know about the company’s new upcoming launch.

New Features

The first change that we can notice is that the looks are closely inspired by the company’s new R7. Upfront, the bike has a single projector headlamp as compared to twin-eye LED in V3. Replacing the twin eyes LEDs are beautiful daytime running LED DRLs, which gives the bike an angry racing look. R15M received the change in the body panel as well.

The side looks like the company’s 2021 R3 inspired with exhaust having a metallic finish. A major update on looks is the much awaited golden colour USD forks. We can expect the bike to come in the same colour scheme as the current R15 V3 that is Thunder grey, Racing blue, Dark Knight, Metallic red and a MotoGP version. The bike will also be equipped with a new instrument cluster which can be expected as a coloured TFT with Bluetooth connectivity.

Engine

As of now, there is no news of the engine being updated as the company recently updated its R15 V3 engine making it BS6 compliant. The company will be using the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4 stroke, SOHC, 4 valve engine producing 18.6 hp of power at best in class 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm torque at 8,500 rpm. Paired with the engine is the same 6-speed gearbox to give the bike good initials along with long gears to improve range. The company will also equip R15M with assist and a slipper clutch as standard.

After being spotted in the showroom by Revnitro, an Indian Youtuber, we can expect the bike to launch very soon. The beast is made in India and will be launching first in India as well. New Yamaha YZF R15M is expected to be 20-25k dearer than the current R15 V3, which currently retails at Rs1.57 lakhs ex-showroom.
