MG Motor India has unveiled Astor, India’s first SUV with a personal assistant and first in segment autonomous level 2 technology. Astor is based on the MG’s successful global platform, ZS. Astor’s contemporary style will connect with consumers as it is based on MG’s design philosophy of Emotional Dynamism. The assistant in Astor depicts human-like emotions and voices. For even humanising the experience the Paralympic athlete Deepa Malik has lent her voice for the assistant.
The AI technology in Astor developed around the vision of MG’s Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) of possibilities. This feature allows users to customise this personal service according to their needs. Here is everything about the new Smart SUV.

Engine and Design
Astor has a prominent bold grille which gives the MG logo a 3D look along with a solid road presence. Astor’s nine crystal diamond partition in the LED headlamps looks distinct and gives the car an aggressive look. The interior should be soft touch and made out of premium materials.
The car will be coming in two options first being the Brit Dynamic 220 TURBO petrol engine with a 6-speed Automatic transmission delivering 140ps of power and 220 Nm of torque. And the other option availed by the company is VTi Tech petrol engine with manual transmission & an 8-speed CVT as an option, delivering 144 Nm of torque and 110ps of power.

Features
The company has collaborated with BOSCH for an Advance drive assistance system (ADAS) in Astor.AI technology, six radars and five cameras equip the SUV to manage 14 advanced Autonomous Level 2 features. The car ensures a safer driving experience with 27 standard safety features like ESP, TCS and HDC.Â
Among its host of comfort, convenience and safety features include 6 airbags, 6-way power-adjustable driver seats, electric parking brake, heated ORVM, rain-sensing wiper, PM 2.5 filter, panoramic sky roof, rear AC vent and front and rear armrest,10.1-inch HD infotainment system for the cinematic experience and full digital cluster with 7-inch embedded LCD screenÂ
Astor has 80+ internet features residing on MG i-SMART technology. MG Astor hosts subscriptions and services as well, including maps and navigation powered by MapMyIndia, Jio connectivity, the first-of-its-kind Blockchain-protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth and more. MG car owners will also get access to music on the JioSaavn app, along with the industry-first feature of reserving a parking slot through a head unit (powered by Park+, select cities to begin with) and access to unlimited information with Wikipedia.
With so many safety and smart AI features the most awaited midsize SUV MG Astor will be set on display to the nearest MG showroom from September 19th 2021 and the booking will start thereafter. The price of the SUV is still under wraps by the company but everything will be revealed soon.
