The CNG version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO is all set to launch in India on October 15. Reports of a CNG powertrain for the compact SUV first surfaced back in April. The 3XO is already one of the most mechanically versatile SUVs on the market right now. It is available in petrol, diesel, and electric engine options. The addition of a fourth CNG option will make it even more attractive to buyers.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: What to expect?
The ICE model of the XUV 3XO is currently available in 2 turbo-petrol options – 1.2-litre MPFI and 1.2-litre direct-injection. The MPFI engine will be modelled into a CNG powertrain as it is easier and cheaper to adapt compared to its direct-injection counterpart. In its current guise, it produces a maximum power output of 111hp and 200Nm of torque. With a factory-fitted CNG kit, these numbers will go down.
Meanwhile, the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder mStallion direct-injection turbo-petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 131hp and 230Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 117hp and 300Nm. All three ICE engines can be mated to a manual or automated-manual gearbox. However, the CNG model will only be available with a manual transmission.

The all-electric XUV 3XO entered the Indian market in January 2026. It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor which generates a maximum power output of 150hp and 310Nm of torque. The 39.4kWh battery can go up to 285km on a single full charge. A 50kW DC fast charger takes up to 50 minutes to charge the SUV from 0 to 80%. There are 3 drive modes on offer – Fun, Fast and Fearless.
The feature list of the Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG will depend on its trim. We expect it to be available with top- and mid-spec trims. It will get features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and other convenience features. However, it will miss out on premium features like a Level 2 ADAS package, Dolby Atmos support, a subwoofer, and more.
