The Renault Triber MPV is set to receive a turbo-petrol engine at the end of September. This will be the same turbo-petrol unit that does duty on the Kiger SUV. This engine will also spawn a CNG version of the MPV with a factory-fitted kit. Initially, the Triber was supposed to get the turbo-petrol engine when it was facelifted last year. Back in April, we reported that the new powertrain would be added to the MPV’s lineup later in 2027.

Renault Triber Turbo: Here are the specs you’ve been waiting for
The turbo-petrol engine for the Renault Triber has been internally codenamed ‘HR10’. This 1.3-litre, four-cylinder unit generates a maximum power output of 100hp and 160Nm of torque on the Kiger. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. This engine is also found on Kiger’s Nissan cousin, Magnite. Its output specs are the same across both SUVs.
However, on the Renault Triber, this turbo-petrol engine will have one less cylinder. The output figures of the 3-cylinder version of the turbo unit are currently unknown. It is also uncertain whether the Triber Turbo will come with a CVT. Currently, the Triber comes with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power output of 72hp and 96Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
The Triber will also be made available with a CNG powertrain based on the turbo-petrol engine. The CMF-A platform underpinning the MPV has been tweaked to accommodate the dual CNG cylinders under the boot floor. The updated architecture is called Renault Global Compact Platform (RGCP). Currently, the Triber is available with an aftermarket CNG kit. The CNG powertrain will be added to the Kiger SUV’s lineup as well.
In terms of features, the Renault Triber packs an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, second and third row AC vents, a start/stop push button, and wireless charging. Safety features include 6 airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera, ABS, front parking sensors, cruise control, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring Sensor, traction control, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX child anchorages.

Final Thoughts
The addition of the turbo-petrol engine will give the Triber a boost in sales. Ever since its introduction, buyers have been demanding a more powerful powertrain for the MPV. Prices for the current lineup start at Rs 5.81 lakh and go up to Rs 8.53 lakh. The turbo petrol powertrain will demand a small premium. The Triber rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Kia Carens in India.
