Volkswagen India has dropped a teaser for the standard Tayron model. Currently, Volkswagen Tayron is available in a single, top-spec R-Line variant, priced at Rs 46.99 lakh. The standard model will carry over some design elements from the R-Line variant, but won’t be as feature-packed as the top-spec model. The two SUVs will share the same powertrain.

Volkswagen Tayron: What to expect?
The Tayron teaser dropped by Volkswagen reveals a similar design to the R-Line variant. The front fascia of the standard model features sleek projector LED headlamps with integrated DRLs and an LED light bar connecting the two modules. The Volkswagen logo, positioned at the centre of the light bar, is illuminated. The automaker has not revealed the grille and bumper yet. They are expected to don a different look compared to the R-Line model.
The profile of the standard Tayron is identical to its top-spec counterpart, but it gets a different design for its 19-inch alloy wheels. The wheel arches and roof rails have a gloss black finish. At the back, the LED tail lamps are connected by a light bar. The rear section also has an illuminated Volkswagen logo. Dimensionally, there won’t be much separating the two cars. The Tayron R-Line is 4,735mm long, 1,859mm wide, 1,682mm tall, and has a 2,789mm wheelbase.
Inside, the standard Tayron appears to have a dual-tone colour theme for the upholstery. The R-Line model has an all-black interior. The dashboard has a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver’s display. The two units seem to be as large as their R-Line counterparts. The teaser also confirms features like ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.
The R-Line variant is packed with features like Varena leather front seats with 10-point pressure massage and active ventilation functions, a 3-zone climate control system, an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, 30-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging, a powered tailgate, and more. On the safety front, it gets 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, a blind spot monitor, hill start assist, hill hold assist, and more features. There is a Level 2 ADAS package on board as well. Some of these features won’t make it to the standard model.

The two variants will have the same powertrain specs. The standard Tayron will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that does duty on the R-Line model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 204hp and 320Nm of torque. It is linked to a 7-speed DCT. The AWD configuration channels the power produced by the engine to all four wheels. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 224km/h.
