The Renault Kiger SUV has been updated with new variants. Its turbo petrol powertrain is now available in a new Evolution+ trim, along with a manual gearbox, at Rs 7.89 lakh. The Evolution+ trim also comes with the NA petrol engine, with prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh. Renault has also added an MT gearbox option to the Techno Turbo variant.

The Evolution+ trim carries forward features like the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity (wireless), LED DRLs and tail lamps, electrically adjustable OVRMs, steering-mounted controls, rear view camera, fabric upholstery, and rear AC vents from the Evolution trim. It adds features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, and push-button start/stop.
The Techno variant adds features like LED headlamps and 16-inch flex wheels. Premium features like ventilated seating, diamond-cut alloy wheels, drive modes, and a 360-degree camera are reserved for the top-spec Emotion trim. On the safety front, the SUV is equipped with 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ESP, traction control, Hill Start Assist, and ISOFIX anchorages as standard features.
No changes have been made under the hood of the Kiger SUV. The 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 72hp and 96Nm of torque. This engine can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. It has a fuel economy of 19.83km/l. Meanwhile, the 1-litre turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 100hp and 160Nm of torque. It can be linked to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. This engine offers a mileage of 20.38km/l.

Final Thoughts
Bringing down the price of the turbo petrol engine will make the Kiger more appealing to buyers in the compact SUV segment. The SUV’s design and colour options remain unchanged. It rivals the Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
