Tata Motors has dropped a teaser for the all-electric Sierra ahead of its grand debut. The Tata Sierra EV will be unveiled in India on June 30. Upon launch, it will become the seventh offering in Tata Electric’s portfolio. The EV will be a direct conversion of its ICE counterpart. It will be manufactured along the ICE model at Tata’s Sanand plant in Gujarat.

Tata Sierra EV: What to expect?
Tata Motors first showcased the Sierra EV at Auto Expo 2020 as a concept model. It has made multiple appearances at the event since then. Last year, the production-spec Sierra EV was teased in the promotional campaign leading up to the launch of the ICE model. The official teaser confirms that no other changes have been made to the EV since we saw it last year.
In terms of design, the Tata Sierra EV looks identical to its ICE sibling. It gets some EV-exclusive changes like a shut-off grille, a charging port cutout, and ‘EV’ badging. The SUV rocks the classic ‘Sierra’ profile with the curved rear window effect. The alloy wheel design has been carried forward from the ICE model as well. At the back, a sleek light bar connects the two LED taillamps.
The official teaser does not give a glimpse of the Sierra EV’s interior, but we don’t expect it to stray too far from its ICE counterpart. The EV will rock a panoramic screen setup comprising 3 12.3-inch displays, one each for the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, and passenger entertainment pad. The driver’s cockpit will be equipped with a Heads-Up Display (HUD). Other features like ventilated front seats, a 6-way powered driver’s seat ( with memory function), a 12-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, ambient lighting, birthday celebration mode, relax mode, and more are expected to make the cut.
Tata has kept a tight lid on the Sierra EV’s battery and powertrain specs. We know that the EV will be based on the automaker’s acti.ev+ architecture. This is the platform that underpins the all-electric Harrier. We wouldn’t be surprised if the Sierra EV borrows the Harrier EV’s engine and battery packs.
If that is the case, Tata Sierra EV will be offered in 2 battery sizes – 65kWh and 75kWh. On the Harrier EV, the 65kWh offers a 538km driving range (ARAI). Tata’s internal C75 testing puts its range between 420 and 445 km. Meanwhile, the 75kWh battery pack offers 622km MIDC-certified range (480-505km C75 range).
If the Sierra EV gets Harrier EV’s powertrain options, it will be offered with AWD and RWD variants. The Harrier EV’s RWD variants generate a maximum power output of 238hp and 315Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the AWD variants put out 390hp and 594Nm.

Final Thoughts
Tata Motors will start accepting bookings for the Sierra EV soon after its debut. We expect the electric SUV to fetch up to Rs 19 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, and VinFast VF6.
